Router evidence
Can a TP-Link Deco X50 or X55 replace my ISP router?
The non-DSL Deco X50/X55 models support common PPPoE, VLAN and AP-mode setups but cannot terminate a VDSL line. Provider authentication still decides whether they can sit directly on the handoff.
Direct Ethernet cases
Deco is a strong fit when the provider gives an Ethernet handoff and uses a supported WAN method such as DHCP or PPPoE.
Hub-first cases
For Sky FTTP, current TP-Link guidance keeps the Sky hub in front. Xfinity/Rogers bridge mode and AT&T passthrough are other examples where Deco can own the LAN without removing every provider box.
DSL cases
Do not confuse a standard Deco X50/X55 with a DSL-capable Deco model. FTTC/FTTN profiles that terminate VDSL at the customer device need different hardware.
