Can I use my own modem/router with eir?

eir's first-party business support says third-party modems can connect to its services but are not supported for configuration. The cited basic settings use PPPoE with CHAP authentication. Hlonix keeps the broader profile at medium confidence because the clearest current page is business support.

Why the verdict is not high confidence

The available eir support page is for business broadband and gives generic modem credentials/settings. Hlonix does not silently assume every residential fibre/DSL product uses an identical access profile.

Access hardware still matters

If the service terminates in an ONT, an Ethernet router may be enough. If the line requires DSL termination, the replacement hardware also needs the correct modem capability.

Support boundary

eir explicitly says it does not support third-party devices, so keep provider equipment available if line troubleshooting is needed.
