Can I use my own router behind a Freebox?

Yes. Free documents Bridge mode specifically for personal routers and advanced use. The Freebox remains the provider access device, while the downstream router takes over the home-network routing role.

What bridge mode does

The Freebox redirects the internet connection to one connected device, allowing your own router to become the primary home router.

What you lose

Free lists Wi-Fi, UPnP-related services, some TV-player LAN access and several Freebox local-network functions among the features affected by bridge mode.

When AP mode is enough

If your only goal is better Wi-Fi rather than control of NAT/firewall/routing, leaving the Freebox as router and using another system as an access point can preserve more provider features.
