Using your own router in the Netherlands
KPN explicitly supports own equipment and separates internet, TV and voice service requirements. Ziggo supports own-router setups by putting the Ziggo modem in bridge mode, or in some cases registering a compatible own modem.
KPN internet is not the whole KPN service stack
For the internet session, current KPN-hosted guidance uses PPPoE over VLAN 6. IPTV and fixed voice add their own service/VLAN requirements, so a router that passes the internet check may still need more work for a full bundle.
Ziggo separates modem from router roles
Ziggo's own help explains that its box combines a cable modem and Wi-Fi router. Bridge mode keeps the modem role but hands the home-network routing role to your own router.
Keep provider hardware for support
Ziggo explicitly tells customers to keep the supplied modem even when using own equipment, because provider support may need it for network diagnostics.
