Using your own router in Canada
For the Canadian profiles currently covered by Hlonix, the cleanest documented path usually keeps the provider gateway and hands routing to your own device through bridge or port-bridge mode.
Rogers: bridge the gateway
Rogers documents bridge mode specifically for customers adding a third-party router. The gateway stops acting as the home router while remaining the provider-facing modem/access device.
TELUS: exact gateway matters
TELUS bridge guidance is model-specific. Hlonix therefore keeps TELUS at medium confidence and does not claim that every current gateway exposes the same bridge controls.
Why Hlonix keeps the provider box
A bridge-mode result is different from a direct replacement. The provider device still terminates the service even though your router owns NAT, firewall and Wi-Fi.
