United Kingdom · Plusnet
Can I use my own router with Plusnet?
Yes, with hardware that matches the access type. Full Fibre connects through the Openreach ONT using PPPoE credentials. Plusnet Fibre / FTTC needs a VDSL modem-router and its published fibre settings include VLAN 101.

Full Fibre
The ONT handles the optical side, leaving the third-party router to establish the PPPoE session over Ethernet.
FTTC
The replacement device must also be the DSL modem. That makes VDSL and VLAN support just as important as PPPoE.
Credentials
Plusnet publishes the broadband username/password pattern for third-party equipment. Use account-specific values rather than copying credentials from a generic example.
