Can I use my own router with Aussie Broadband?

Yes. Aussie Broadband publishes a straightforward BYO profile: Dynamic IP/IPoE/DHCP, no broadband username/password and VLAN disabled for the cited nbn settings. FTTN/FTTB still needs a VDSL-capable modem-router.

Ethernet-handoff services

FTTP, HFC, FTTC, Fixed Wireless and Opticomm profiles use Ethernet WAN after the network connection box. Your router does not need to be a DSL modem in those cases.

FTTN/FTTB services

The router/modem connects directly to the DSL line, so VDSL capability becomes mandatory even though the provider authentication remains simple.

Why this is a good compatibility check

A router can support DHCP and still be wrong for FTTN because it lacks VDSL. Hlonix deliberately tests the physical layer before declaring a match.
