Can I use my own router with Verizon Fios?

For a modern internet-only Fios setup using Ethernet from the ONT, Verizon-hosted community guidance documents using a third-party router. Hlonix keeps the verdict at medium confidence because that specific own-router procedure is community guidance rather than a standard Verizon support article.

Why the ONT stays

The ONT converts the fiber signal to Ethernet/data service. Replacing the router does not mean removing the ONT.

Why TV changes the answer

The Verizon Community KB explicitly warns that Fios One set-top boxes require a Verizon router as primary. Internet-only and TV bundles therefore should not share one universal verdict.

Evidence limitation

Verizon's official support documents the ONT and Ethernet self-install path, while the own-router procedure itself is in Verizon-hosted community documentation. Hlonix surfaces that distinction instead of hiding it.
