Can I use my own router with Xfinity?

Yes, but decide which device is doing the modem job. With a leased Xfinity Wireless Gateway, enable Bridge Mode and let your router handle the home network. With a compatible customer-owned modem, connect your router behind that modem instead.

Option 1: keep the Xfinity Gateway

Xfinity's current support page says a separate router can be used by putting the Wireless Gateway into Bridge Mode so the gateway acts only as the modem/access device.

Option 2: own the modem too

Xfinity also supports customer-owned equipment, but modem compatibility and activation are a separate problem from router compatibility. Hlonix keeps those two checks conceptually separate.

What to buy

If you are keeping the Xfinity gateway, buy for router features and WAN speed. If you want customer-owned cable hardware, verify the modem against Xfinity service compatibility before treating the router as the only purchase.
